In Barcelona, history and traditions go hand in hand with emerging fashion and new trends in cuisine, culture, and art, and this morning you will discover the highlights of this fascinating city. Accompanied by our guide, enjoy a walking tour of the Born neighborhood and the Gothic Quarter, then stroll down one of the city's most important streets to reach the Cathedral of Barcelona where you'll have some free time to visit on your own. Continue the walking tour through the narrow streets of Barcelona's oldest part and discover the many secrets it holds. Marvel at the quaint medieval places, hidden to the crowds, and learn about their huge historical significance. Follow your guide through the streets of the Born neighborhood and past Santa Maria del Mar church. Then board an air-conditioned coach for a panoramic tour through the city. Driving along the coastline, passing by the Olympic Port, the beach, and the fisherman’s quarter called Barceloneta, admire the intense changes the city underwent with the organization of the Olympic Games in 1992. We then head up to Montjuïc Mountain, the main site of the Olympic Games in 1992, to enjoy the amazing views over the city during a cable car ride. Our final stop is at the MNAC viewpoint offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views of Barcelona before proceeding along Passeig de Gracia passing by some of the most emblematic Gaudi buildings such as Casa Batlló and la Pedrera. The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and a morning at leisure before this afternoon's tour to discover the legacy of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí. Gaudi, one of the greatest innovators of his time, has left behind numerous treasures in Barcelona for the discerning tourist to discover. The Sagrada Familia is one of the most visited buildings in the world. We will visit the astonishing interior of this church, where vaults go up to seventy meters. Antoni Gaudí designed a Latin cross plan with five aisles, extremely rich in ornamentation and symbolism. We will also visit the Sagrada Familia Museum, where you will see drawings, plaster models, and pictures about the history and development of this basilica from its early beginnings to the present day. The museum will also give valuable information about Antoni Gaudi´s life and career. Then we will join the rest of the group and continue with the visit of the Artistic Tour during which you will discover Gaudi's fascinating Park Güell which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Be careful, it's easy to get lost in the whimsical design of this eccentric but compelling public park with perfect integration of the architectural elements in nature. Towards the end of the tour, we will immerse ourselves in a walking tour of Passeig de Gràcia where we will admire Gaudi's famous apartment buildings such as Casa Mila “La Pedrera”, Casa Batlló, and other modernist buildings, where the tour ends.
