With guided visits in Madrid & Portugal, this 9-day tour by luxury coach in the company of no more than 24 travellers and guided in English only, offers a relaxing & convenient way to visit many must-see sites with hotel accommodation at carefully selected hotels in the company of licensed professional guides. 

Day 1: Madrid

Sunday - Arriving at Madrid's International Airport you will be met and transferred by private car to your Madrid hotel. Join your tour director and fellow travelers for an authentic Welcome Tapas Dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2: Madrid

Monday - Breakfast at the hotel. Discover the beauties of the city with a guided city tour. Barrio de la Morería, the Hapsburgs District, Plaza Mayor and Plaza de la Villa; the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains and the Puerta de Alcalá. The contemporary Madrid with areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, as well as commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium.  During the visit, we will taste the typical chocolate with churros, the most Madrid-style snack. Afternoon at leisure to continue exploring the wonders that the city has to offer.

Day 3: Madrid | Salamanca | Porto

Tuesday - After breakfast at your hotel, board the coach for the journey to Portugal, with a stop in Salamanca along the way. Enjoy some free time in this University City and World Heritage Site of great architectural and artistic wealth. Continue to the Portuguese border to reach Porto. Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European towns and was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, and your home for the next two nights. (B)

Day 4: Porto

Wednesday - Breakfast at the hotel. Panoramic sightseeing tour of Porto, considered a World Heritage city. We admire the Cathedral, Stock Exchange building and Santa Clara church. Afterwards, enjoy a different perspective of the city along the Douro River and discover the historic heritage by visiting the well-known Port Wine Cellars with a wine tasting included. Rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation. (B)

Day 5: Porto | Coimbra | Fatima

Thursday - Breakfast. Departure towards Coimbra, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe and cradle of Fado. Free time. Continuation to Fátima, center of the Christian Faith and a World Pilgrimage Sanctuary, with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria, where the Virgin Mary appeared. We recommend visiting the Chapel of the Apparitions, the heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the three little shepherds: Lucía, Francisco, and Jacinta. In the evening, possibility to attend the candlelight procession. Accommodation. (B)

Day 6: Fatima | Batalha | Nazare | Alcobaca | Lisbon

Friday - Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline architecture, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue to the picturesque fishing town of Nazaré. Free time, then proceed to Alcobaça (also a World Heritage Site), with its Gothic church and Cistercian monastery, whose origins date back to the 12th century. Continue on to Lisbon. Arrival in the Portuguese capital and accommodation. (B)

Day 7: Lisbon

Saturday - Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, enjoy a city tour of Lisbon, formerly known as Olissipo, covering its main squares and avenues, the Belém Tower, the Jerónimos Monastery (exterior), and the Monument to the Discoveries. The afternoon is free to explore the city’s charming corners, such as the Alfama district, or to join the optional excursion to Sintra and Cascais (both World Heritage Sites). Accommodation at the hotel. (B)

Day 8: Lisbon | Merida | Madrid

Sunday - Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Mérida, a World Heritage city. Mérida, the capital of Extremadura, is known for its rich historical heritage, including its well-preserved Roman ruins: the theater, the amphitheater, the Roman bridge, and more. Free time and then continue to Madrid. Accommodation. (B)

Day 9: Madrid

Monday - Today, after breakfast you tour comes to an end. At a time to suit your departing flight, you will be transferred to the airport to begin your journey home. (B) Adios!
