A 7-day Rail Tour which will satisfy your desire to visit some of the most evocative sites of the Côte d'Azur & of Provence.  

Day 1: Nice

Upon arrival at Nice Airport, make your way to your hotel which is centrally located and ideal for exploring the many historic & artistic sites of the city on foot. After check-in, take some time to relax and then perhaps head out on foot to admire the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean Sea

Day 2: Cannes, Antibes & St Paul

Nestled in the hills beyond France's iconic beaches of Cote d'Azur, Saint-Paul de Vence is an essential sanctuary for art lovers. Recognized as a glorious retreat and source of inspiration for hundreds of artists, including Picasso, Chagall, or Matisse Today Saint-Paul de Vence offers a blooming gallery scene, and its pedestrian-only cobblestone roads make it a perfect place to roam. Cannes is the home of a fascinating Film Festival and is renowned worldwide for its incredible beaches, luxurious hotels, chic boutiques, and designer shops. The town shines a sense of glamour and elegance that is hard to find anyplace else in the world. Celebrated for its Provencal markets packed with fresh regional products, Antibes Juan-Les-Pins is a lovely town to enjoy a local food market, browse the picturesque stalls and try several specialities such as the Socca and the Tapenade. At the end of today's tour you'll return to NIce for an evening on your own.  ( B )

Day 3: Monaco, La Turbie & Eze

Today's visits include Montecarlo, a part of the collective imagination of everybody born after the fifties. After his wedding with Prince Ranieri, Grace Kelly's arrival transformed a sleepy town on the Mediterranean coast into a legendary and glamorous set.
A temptation for high-rollers and hedonists is also famous for being a tax haven and home of a legendary Formula One Grand Prix. Before arriving in Monaco, you will stop at the picturesque village of Eze. Dating from the Middle Ages, Eze was a fort built on a rocky peak for defensive purposes and was dismantled in 1706 by the order of Louis XIV. Moving to Montecarlo, you will enjoy the view of the town from La Turbie, knowns as the "Monaco terrace". Once in the Principate, you will have time to discover the old town of Monaco on "Le Rocher" (the rock) overlooking the sea and harbour, watch the Changing of the Guard at 11:55 and discover Prince's Palace, the Palais du Casino and the beautiful port. Montecarlo is home to a fantastic Musée Oceanographique, Jardin Exotique, a lush garden sitting above a cliff that looks out over the ocean. (B)

Day 4: Nice | Aix-en-Provence

This morning after breakfast at your hotel and at a time to suit the departure time of your train, make your way to the railway station.  Here you'll board your high-speed train, with reserved seats to head to Aix-en-Provence.  When you arrive you'll find your driver waiting for you to bring you to the hotel in Aix-en-Provence.  Check-in to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day exploring at your own pace. (B) 

Day 5: Provence Discovery

Today you'll discover why Provence has enchanted travellers for centuries with its extraordinary landscapes, charming hilltop village, ancient monuments, and last but not least, great views. Meet your expert driver guide today and explore Provence's UNESCO World Heritage sites, starting in the Alpilles mountain range. Settled on a rugged spur commanding the valley, the old village of Les Baux de Provence will accompany you on a memorable journey into the past. Continue to perfectly preserved remains of the Roman aqueduct, which supplied water to the city of Nîmes, the Pont du Gard. Driving by the docks within the Rhône river and the medieval walls, you will access the noble city of the Popes, Avignon. The town has everything to fascinate with its "Art de Vivre" and superb architectural heritage. Here you will have the opportunity to visit ( on your own) the Palais des Papes, the largest Gothic palace in Europe and epicentre of the city. It was the residence of pontifical sovereigns during the 14th century, an exclusive witness of the ancient times with its staterooms, chapels, cloisters, private papal apartments with incredible numbers frescoes, and more. During this fantastic day, you will also savour the wines of the Rhône river valley in the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with its castle overlooking the vineyard.  At the end of the tour, you'll return to Aix en Provence. Day 6: Aix-en-Provence

Aix is a city of elegance, an open-air history book, with its Mediterranean light and temperate climate, charming streets and lively squares. The brilliant skies, golden stone facades, fountains, and shadow combined with the gentle way of life make this city an icon of "bon vivre", how locals call the "good living". Aix en Provence is also full of culinary surprises. Escorted by your local and expert guide, you'll discover its heritage, the picturesque stalls of typical provençal markets and enjoy the local specialities. Enjoy a historical and tasty stroll to discover the local culture and culinary tradition. Walk along the Mirabeau Avenue, marked with its splendid fountains, view the facades of elegant Renaissance mansions, discover the places where Paul Cézanne used to spend his days. You will savour a black or green tapenade toast, taste a delicious piece of cheese, sip the wine of a provençal PDO, and try some Nougat, the famous local sweet. You will be fascinated by the provençal way of life and fall in love with this beautiful town.  At the end of the tour the day is yours to pass as you choose. (B) 

Day 7: Aix-en-Provence

Today marks the end of your Côte d'Azur & Provence vacation.   At a time to suit your departing flight or train make your own way to the railway station or airport. (B)
