Day 1: Edinburgh

On arrival at Edinburgh airport, make your way to your selected hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or start exploring on your own.

Day 2: Loch Ness, Glencoe & Highlands

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before departing on a full-day small-group tour to discover the majestic beauty of Rannoch Moor, Glencoe, the Great Glen & mystic Loch Ness. Your tour passes through magnificent Glencoe, scene of the clan massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells in 1692, and on through Fort William, the beginning of the "Great Glen" and the Caledonian Canal, which you follow up to Fort Augustus, nestling on the banks of Loch Ness. Here you can enjoy your lunch on your own and an optional boat trip (April to October; payable locally) or take a wander along the lochside with spectacular views of the loch. From here you return south to Edinburgh via "Monarch of the Glen" country and Highland Perthshire. (B)

Day 3: West Highland Lochs & Castles

Enjoy a  fantastic day out in the heart of the scenic Western Highlands taking in the superb ruins of Kilchurn Castle, stunningly situated at the head of Loch Awe and the historic 18th-century town of Inveraray, home to the Duke of Argyll. If you love old ruined castles, tales of old clan rivalries, west coast lochs, baronial mansions and brilliant mountain scenery then you’ll find this tour difficult to beat. Capture the spirit of the Western Highlands and explore some of its most atmospheric Lochs and Castles. En-route to the Western Highlands, we stop briefly below the impressive Stirling Castle before continuing towards the medieval stronghold of Doune Castle, set of Monty Python’s “Holy Grail” and the “Outlander” series. From here you continue north into the stunning Scottish Highlands and on to Kilchurn Castle, magnificently situated at the head of Loch Awe and surrounded by towering mountains. Next stop is the whitewashed 18th-century town of Inveraray, home of the Duke of Argyll and his magnificent Baronial style castle (open April to October). You continue over the spectacular “Rest and Be Thankful” pass to Loch Lomond, stopping at the conservation village of Luss, set on its “bonnie, bonnie banks”. From here you return to Edinburgh. (B)
