Budapest is one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe with over 1000 years of history on display. Often referred to as the Pearl of the Danube, Budapest sits at the crossroads of the West & East and exudes a combination of the modern & the exotic with something for everyone.

Day 1: Arrive in Budapest

Upon arrival in Budapest transfer independently to your selected hotel for check-in. After settling in and some time to relax you may wish to head out and start your discovery of this fascinating city.

Day 2: Budapest

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then discover the main historic sites and attractions of Hungary’s capital during this half-day City Tour of Budapest. Starting by coach from the Chain Bridge, we pass by the Parliament and take the Margaret Bridge to drive over to the Buda side. We stop in the Castle District and during a short walk we show you the main attractions of the area. We walk to Matthias Church and the Fishermen’s Bastion, from where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. Next, we drive to the Gellért Hill (Citadel) and show you the most spectacular view of Budapest. We then take you over the Elisabeth Bridge to Pest and show you the famous Central Market Hall and the largest Synagogue in Europe, after which we drive to the City Park. We pass by Europe’s largest thermal spa, the Budapest Zoo and the Amusement Park, then stop at the Heroes’ Square with the statues of the most famous Hungarian kings & dukes. We continue along Andrássy Avenue to downtown Pest, passing by the Opera House and the St Stephen’s Basilica. During the tour, you will also receive a brief overview of the last 1000 years of Hungarian history. The tour ends in the city centre and the afternoon is free to spend as you wish. (B)

Day 4: Gödöllö Palace

Following breakfast, today enjoy an excursion to the beautiful baroque Palace of Gödöllö, the former Summer residence of Queen Elizabeth (‘Sissi’) and Franz Joseph, Austrian Emperor and King of Hungary from 1867 to 1916. Located only a short 30-minute drive from Budapest, Gödöllö is the second-largest baroque châteaux in the world. The interior visit of the Museum and a tour through the garden of the château will give you a glimpse into the royal life during the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the secrets & private affairs of this famous couple. Following the tour, you will have some free time to continue strolling through the palace gardens or enjoy coffee & cake at the Palace Café, on your own. Return to Budapest where the tour ends in the city centre and spend the remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 4: Depart Budapest

Unfortunately, your Budapest stay ends today. After a leisurely breakfast, make your way to the airport or railway station for your onward journey. Or perhaps combine Budapest with our City breaks in Prague and Vienna to create your very own tour of Eastern Europe's Imperial cities. (B)
