Enjoy four days discovering the rich historical, cultural & artistic legacy of Austria's imperial capital Vienna.Visit magnificent palaces & prestigious art exhibits, enjoy a day touring the romantic Danube Valley and perhaps relax with a coffee & slice of Sacher Torte at one of the city's iconic cafes!

Day 1: Arrive Vienna

On arrival in Vienna transfer independently to your selected hotel. Check-in and remainder of the day at leisure to spend as you please. Take a leisurely stroll through the heart of Austria's imperial capital, visit one of the many museums & art galleries or perhaps stop at the iconic Sacher Hotel's café to relax and enjoy a slice of the famous Sacher torte. Overnight accommodation in Vienna.

Day 2 Vienna

Following breakfast, enjoy a guided city tour highlighting the most important tourist attractions Vienna has to offer, followed by a visit to the magnificent Schönbrunn Palace with its beautiful showrooms. Your sightseeing tour begins with a drive along the Ringstrasse boulevard, where you pass many popular tourist attractions. Admire the impressive Vienna State Opera where the famous "Opera Ball" takes place every year, the grand Hofburg Palace former winter residence of the imperial family, the monumental buildings of the Museum of Art History and the Museum of Natural History. Further sights on our tour include the neoclassical Parliament, the acclaimed Burgtheater and the striking City Hall, where the legendary Life Ball takes place.  We then proceed to Schönbrunn Palace for a guided tour with skip-the-line tickets included - no need to wait for Austria’s most popular tourist attraction! The former imperial summer residence, Schönbrunn Palace is a listed World Heritage Site and attracts millions of people from all over the world every year. We visit the historic state-rooms and see how the imperial family once lived. Afterwards, you have free time to take a stroll through the palace gardens or enjoy a cup of original Viennese coffee and a piece of delicious apple strudel, before returning to the city centre. This tour has a duration of approximately 3.5 hours and the remainder of the day is free to continue exploring on your own. (B)

Day 3: Danube Valley

Today sees you departing on an unforgettable full-day excursion through the picturesque Danube Valley, known for its excellent wine, medieval castles, impressive monasteries and breathtaking landscape. On our comfortable bus, you travel from Vienna to Krems, a pretty town on the banks of the Danube river. In the winter months, we have a short break in Krems, in the summertime, we drive through the historical city centre. We continue on to Dürnstein where on the nearby hill you can see the ruins of Dürnstein castle where the English King Richard the Lionheart was held captive. At the small village of Spitz, we board the boat and sail upstream toward Melk. Relax and enjoy this romantic boat ride admiring taking in the beautiful landscape of the Danube Valley with its lush vineyards reaching right down to the banks of the blue Danube River, while gentle hills and green woods come into view along the way. Arriving in Melk, the bus awaits to take us to the nearby Benedictine Abbey where a guided tour will show you the magnificent marble hall, the precious abbey library and the church with its unique frescoes. This impressive baroque building was awarded the prize "Best Historic Destination of the World" together with the Wachau in 2008. Possibility for lunch (not included) onboard or at the Abbey Restaurant in Melk or during the boat ride. After this enjoyable experience, we take you back to Vienna where the tour ends in the city centre, next to the State Opera House. Due to weather conditions, the boat ride takes place from mid-April to late October (during winter months the boat ride is substituted by lunch). This tour requires a minimum of 4 participants and has a duration of approximately 8 hours. Return to Vienna city centre in the later afternoon. (B)

Day 4: Depart Vienna

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then make your way to the airport for your departure flight. End of our services or ask your Travel Agent about extending your Austria vacation. (B)
