From the historic Palace of Holyroodhouse at the foot of the Royal Mile to Edinburgh Castle, Scotland’s capital city is a magical place. Ancient buildings, hidden closes and underground vaults deliver a mystical atmosphere, which continues as you visit the home of golf, St Andrews.

Day 1: Arrival in Edinburgh

On arrival in Edinburgh transfer independently to your selected hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to start exploring Scotland's capital city on your own.

Day 2: Edinburgh

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then spend the day exploring the Scottish capital's main attractions with the Royal Tour, a hop-on / hop-off city sightseeing tour. Your ticket is valid for 48 hours on two routes around the city, allowing you to hop-off & on the bus at as many stops as you want to visit and includes entrances to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Yacht Britannia and Holyrood Palace, the absolute "must see' of this royal tour. Then appreciate the contrast between the 18th century Georgian "New Town" with its wide, tree-lined streets & elegant squares, and the medieval "Old Town", and admire the Royal Mile, the backbone of the old quarter running from the Palace of Holyrood House to Edinburgh Castle. You can also spend some time at the small museums & souvenir shops on the Royal Mile, or enjoy some shopping in the many stores along Princes Street, including Jenners, one of the oldest department stores in the world.  (B)

Day 3: St. Andrews & Fife

Following breakfast at your hotel depart on a full-day tour to St. Andrews and Fife. This tour takes you to South Queensferry to view the "8th Wonder of the World". Then travel into the medieval kingdom of Fife, following the coastal route through the pretty fishing villages in the East Neuk of Fife with a brief stop in Crail. Arrive in the historic university town of St. Andrews where you will have three hours to enjoy this historic city. You can visit its cathedral, castle and University, shop at leisure and take a walk along its beautiful white sandy beach next to the Old Course, the birthplace of golf. We then travel westwards through the heart of Fife, stopping in the historic village of Falkland home to James V's historic Renaissance Palace, before returning to Edinburgh. (B)

Day 4: Depart Edinburgh

Sadly it's time to leave Edinburgh. Following breakfast at your hotel check-out and make your way to the airport or railway station for your onward journey. Or ask your Travel Agent about extending your Scottish vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
