Enjoy a 4-day introduction to Sicily's capital city. Founded by Phoenician traders in the 8th century BCE, Palermo is a city of ever-changing character, displaying years of turbulent history evident in the vast range of architectural styles, cultural & culinary influences. 

Day 1: Arrival in Palermo

Upon arrival in Palermo, you will be met and transferred to your selected hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is free to start exploring Palermo on your own. Overnight accommodation in Palermo.

Day 2: Palermo & Monreale

This morning you'll be picked up by your private English speaking driver-guide (*) for a 4-hour panoramic tour showcasing the historic highlights of Palermo & Monreale. Depart to  Monreale, located a hill overlooking Palermo, where you can admire the Cathedral with its splendid 12th-century golden mosaics representing scenes from the Old and New Testaments and marvel at the 228 columns of the Benedictine Cloister, carved with representations of scenes from religion and mythology. Return to Palermo for a visit of the Capital of Sicily, rich in historical & artistic treasures such as the magnificent Cathedral and the Royal Palace with its 12th-century Palatine Chapel, and also enjoy a panoramic tour of the town featuring "Quattro Canti" square, the Opera House, Pretoria Square, among others. You will also have the chance to taste Palermo’s world-renowned street food while wandering around its historical centre, one of the largest in Europe. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Day 3: Palermo

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then a full day at leisure to continue discovering Palermo on your own. Alternatively, you may wish to book one of the several optional tours available such as the full day excursions to Agrigento & Piazza Armerina, a tour to the Doric temples of Segesta & the archaeological park of Selinunte, or to the historic wineries in Marsala with wine tasting. In the evening you will be treated to dinner in your hotel restaurant. (B.D)

Day 4: Depart Palermo

Today marks the end of your Palermo City Break. Following breakfast, a private transfer will take you back to the airport, and end of our services. Or ask your travel agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)
