Independent Tour. This tour combines Rome, the archaeological site of Pompeii with the natural splendours of the Amalfi Coast, a long time magnet for the rich & famous. Include two nights in beautiful Amalfi and two night on the Island of Capri.

Day 1: Rome

On arrival at Rome Airport make your way to your hotel (an optional transfer is available). Check-in and remainder of the day free to relax or explore Rome on your own.

Day 2: Rome | Naples | Pompeii | Amalfi

After an early morning departure from Rome, you'll see Southern Italy highlights as you cross the regions of Lazio and Campania onboard a comfortable motorcoach. The first stop will be in Naples, one of the most enchanting cities in the Mediterranean famous worldwide for its rich history, art, culture, and gastronomy, where you will take a short panoramic tour to discover its beauty from the comfort of your coach climbing up the Vomero hill. The town overlooks the bay of Naples which extends from the Sorrento peninsula to the volcanic area of Phlegrean fields, and the skyline is dominated by the majestic and still active volcano Vesuvius, offering an impressive sight perfect to take stunning pictures. Descending towards the port of Mergellina, you will leave the city and travel south towards Mount Vesuvius, and, once you reach the town of Pompeii, you will have lunch with the real Neapolitan pizza! After lunch, with your skip-the-line ticket, you will enter one of the most important archaeological sites in the world and UNESCO World Heritage Site - the ruins of Pompeii, for a guided tour. Visit the haunting ruins of Pompeii, travelling back in time to the tragic days in 79 AD when the silent Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupted, covering the prosperous Roman city in deadly volcanic ashes and poisonous gases, leaving this prosperous city crystallized until our days. You’ll learn how people lived at that time, visiting houses and “bars” of the time, admiring frescoes and mosaics to imagine how rich and prosperous was the city before that fateful day. Leaving Pompeii, you will drive along the Sorrentine Coast to the beautiful town of Amalfi and your hotel. (B.L)

Day 3: Amalfi

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then a leisurely day of exploring the wonderful coastal resort of Amalfi on your own, taking in the city's many sites, plunging into the waters of the Gulf of Salerno, or sipping on some of the locally produced Limoncello. Return to your hotel for a well-deserved night of rest. (B)

Day 4: Amalfi | Capri

After breakfast, you’ll be embarked to Capri island. Around 10:00 am, transfer to Sorrento, where you will board on the ferry to Capri. Check-in at your new hotel and enjoy a day exploring this fascinating island on your own. (B)

Day 5: Capri

Today is yours to spend discovering the beauty of Capri at your own pace. Explore the many shops and restaurants of this wonderful island or take a swim in the Gulf of Naples. Depending on weather and sea conditions, you may even want to take an optional venture in a small rowboat to the famous and mysterious Blue Grotto. (B)

Day 6: Capri | Naples | Rome

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and spend a leisurely morning doing some last-minute sightseeing or shopping in Capri. In the afternoon, between 4:00-4:30 pm, board a ferry to Naples and then continue by deluxe motor coach to Rome, with estimated arrival at around 9:00 pm. Check-in at your selected hotel. (B)

Day 7: Rome

Today marks the end of your tour. Following breakfast a your hotel make your way to the airport for your return flight to Canada (an optional transfer is available). Or ask your Travel Agent about extending your vacation with CIT Tours. (B)

Daily departures

Tour departs daily from May 11 to October 11, 2024. Depending on weather conditions, overnight may have to be in Amalfi or Sorrento instead of Capri.
