Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia Ulan Bator, the capital and largest city of Mongolia, has a population of nearly 700,000. It is the economic center of the country and the seat of government. With Soviet aid, Ulan Bator developed into a modern city with broad avenues, a university, museums, hotels, housing developments, and an airport.
